Psalm 46:10 – "Be still, and know that I am God."
Out here on the homestead, the evening hush brings a quiet peace unlike anywhere else. Last night, the deer appeared at dusk, moving with gentle steps through the fields. Around 8:15pm, the foxes slinked past, their soft movements a whisper in the fading light. Then, an hour later, the silent predator—the coyote—passed by, a reminder of the wildness and order of God’s creation.
There’s something about witnessing these moments that slows your heart and lifts your spirit. Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and know God. The stillness on the homestead invites reflection and reminds us that life doesn’t have to be rushed to be meaningful.
I think about the Creator who set these animals on their paths, each with purpose, each perfectly made for their role. We are merely caretakers here, observing His design and marveling at the intricacy of life that surrounds us.
Takeaway:
Lord, help me to be still in the midst of life’s noise. Open my eyes to Your creation and fill my heart with awe at Your work.
